With the World Cup in full swing and the Semifinals now commencing, sports fans around the globe are flocking to their nearest pub to watch the big tournament.

People here in Beijing are doing the same, and the city offers a myriad of venues for us to choose from.

Paddy O'Shea's

Beijing’s first Irish owned sports bar is conveniently located downtown. The aptly named Paddy O’Shea’s has been a favorite hangout for expats and locals alike since 2007.

This is a good place to enjoy frothing pints of Guinness while cheering for your favorite teams on the big screen. This bar has several televisions usually showing more than one event so as to accommodate the varying interests of different customers.

Paddy O’shea’s has all the trappings of an old, traditional sports pub, with its dark wooden interior filled with high tables surrounded in bar stools and its walls decked out in memorabilia. The bar is also known to get quite crowded during big matches, so expect it to be packed during the World Cup semifinals this week.

Drink prices are reasonable at 50 RMB for a pint of Guiness and 20 RMB for a glass of Tsingdao, while a pint of Stella Artois costs 35 RMB.

Extra amenities here include two dartboards and a sizable pool table. Still, it’s the elevated television sets and the bar itself that remain the primary attractions here.

Paddy O’Shea’s is a solid watering hole for sports fans in Beijing. The bar is accommodating, the TVs are plentiful, and the drinks are affordable.CCTV.com English strongly recommends this place for those hoping to enjoy the World Cup in a rowdy yet convivial public venue.
