Huang Jun, born in Jiangxi province in 1961, is a famous calligrapher, scholar and poet. He is the youngest winner of the 1st Lanting Prize, the highest award in the field of calligraphy, and has been featured in the “Top Ten People in the Calligraphy Field” twice, in 2005 and 2012.
Huang Jun is highly skilled at all calligraphy styles, but particularly the cursive script. This new exhibition highlights Huang’s charm as a scholar and member of China’s literati, and also stresses his artistic conception, spiritual connotation as well as his own personal pursuit of high-grade art. The selection of calligraphy styles, brushwork and even mounting form is closely related to the meaning of the work, seeking a complete unity among the calligrapher’s temperament, verbal content and calligraphic version. Huang Jun is not only a calligraphy scholar who has stuck to both academic studies and practices for a long time, but is also an influential contemporary poet.
