China Culture Week opens in Cairo

China Culture Week opened at the Rihab city government square, which is decorated with a Chinese style archway, red lanterns and Chinese knots.

The event features cultural performances, exhibitions of folk arts and Chinese instruments, film screenings, lectures, tea ceremonies and a food fair. Two Egyptian visitors are eager to share their knowledge about the Spring Festival.

A Egyptian said, "I know that Spring Festival is the first day on the lunar Calendar. People wish each other Happy New Year and eat dumplings on that day. "

"Chinese people clean their houses prior to the Festival. They get together at family dinners and burn firecrackers," said an Egyptian.

The event is jointly organized by the Chinese embassy in Egypt and the Chinese Culture Center.
