(Xinhua)

The Chinese and British governments will hold a meeting on high-level cultural exchanges in Beijing on April 23.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang made the announcement at a regular press briefing on Monday.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and British Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who are the two countries' presidents of a cultural exchange mechanism, will jointly preside over and address the meeting, which will focus on the subject of sharing experience and enjoying a common future.

The China-Britain mechanism for high-level cultural exchanges was launched by Liu and Hunt in London in April 2012. This will be the first meeting of the mechanism held in Beijing.

The mechanism is aimed to expand cultural ties between the two countries and strengthen direct communication between the two peoples, as well as allow for more trade opportunities.
