As a key part of the Chongqing and the World 2014 Culture Carnival, a British films promotional activity was held in Chongqing on Oct 14. The CEO of Shorts International, Carter Pilcher, and two others came to Chongqing to seek micro-film cooperation opportunities and enhance film industry cooperation between Britain and Southwest China.

Shorts International (or ShortsTV) is the world's leading short movie entertainment company, shooting micro-films with various genres. Carter Pilcher attended the China and Britain film industry salon and shared views with his Chongqing counterparts on cooperation, finance, short movie making and film education.

"I come to Chongqing because I want to know more about the culture and beauties of this city and to tap the potential of the film industry in western China."Carter Pilcher said. He added that it is a city that can motivate inspiration. This visit lets him know many short movie makers. He said, " wish that I could see Chongqing’s short movies in Britain in the future".

The Oscar-nominated British filmmaker Baldwin Li said that travel can help him know the culture and society of a country. He came to here to find similarities and differences between China and Britain. They are all the source of inspiration for film creation. He said he wished that he could bring British conceptions of film to China, creating a spark of thoughts with Chinese films.

In addition, from Oct 9 to Dec 12, the first Great British Online Film Festival will be jointly launched by the British Embassy to China, the British national tourism agency and Virgin Atlantic Airways. Chinese audiences will have the opportunity to see a series of classic British films for free, including some that have never been screened in China.

The online films will include 36 feature films selected by the British Film Institute (BFI) and 20 short movies from ShortsTV. Many of them have been nominated for international awards or involve famous actors, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench and Martin Freeman.

"In the world film industry, there are no other places than China and Britain that can make me feel excited." Carter said, " wish that these films, including the best in the world, could promote the two sides in film cooperation." This online film festival will feature short films with famous film stars, great stories and the highest quality images.
