"There will be all together in this year's cultural season more than 60 individual events and it is the biggest Danish effort in terms of culture to China ever," said Danish Ambassador to China at the press conference held in Beijing on Oct. 20, 2014.
Danish cultural initiatives in China will be intensified in Autumn 2014 and Spring of 2015 with a substantial cultural program involving a number of major cultural stakeholders in both countries.
The program will run from September 2014 until June 2015. The Danish Minister for Culture is expected to arrive in Beijing on Oct. 24, 2014 and launch the cultural season officially at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
The cultural program will include exhibitions, concerts, film festivals, literary events, symposia, performing arts and theatre, special events with a focus on design, architecture and crafts, as well as initiatives focusing on children and young people. China as a focus area for cultural exchange China is a central geographic focus area for the Danish government's growth market strategy and an integral part of the Danish government’s action plan for international cultural exchange.
In 2012, Denmark and China entered into an agreement to establish a Danish cultural centre in Beijing and a Chinese cultural centre in Copenhagen. In addition, two agreements have been signed in order to strengthen collaboration between Danish and Chinese museums to establish the world's first Music Confucius Institute at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
