This painting depicts nine dragons chasing and playing with each other in the whitecaps. It is a master work with powerful and vigorous lines. What is more, painting dragons is closely related to Daoism. So there are some people who are in favor of Daoism are good at painting dragons too. This scroll was probably given by one of later Qing emperors to Yixin, Prince Gong (1833-1898). And then it was sold by Yamanaka and Co., to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in 1917.
