Global Chinese Music Concert, hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, will be held on Sept 27 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. A Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition will be co-hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Ministry of Culture from Oct. 1-7 for the celebration.
The Global Chinese Music Concert will feature Chinese and foreign music masterpieces mainly played in the form of symphony. Directed by Lv Jia, principal conductor of the National Center for the Performing Arts, and renowned conductor Zheng Xiaoying, the concert will involve Yin Chengzong, composer of the Yellow River Piano Concerto, and famous violinist Lyu Siqing. More than 10 principal Chinese instrumentalists from eminent orchestras such as the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra will be involved. Well-known artists Zhang Jianyi, Lv Wei, Yu Kuizhi and Li Susheng have been invited to perform and over 1,000 overseas Chinese have been invited to be in the audience.
The selection of artworks for the Global Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition started early this year, with nearly 600 works by 200 Chinese from more than 50 countries selected. Nearly 200 works by over 100 artists from 50 countries were finally chosen out after two rounds of preliminary examination and reexamination.
