The opening ceremony of the Danish Cultural Center in Beijing was held on Oct 26. Yang Zhijin, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Marianne Jelved, Danish minister for culture, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
Yang Zhijin said that the establishment of the Danish Cultural Center marks a new stage in the relationship between China and Denmark. It is an important milestone in the cooperation process on both sides. He said he believed that the Danish Cultural Center will serve as a window for the two peoples to know more about each other and promote friendship. It will make greater contributions to promoting bilateral relations.
Marianne Jelved said that Denmark felt proud to be the first Northern European country to set up a cultural center with China in each country. It indicated that solid progress was made in cultural cooperation on both sides. The Danish Cultural Center in Beijing will actively promote a cooperative relationship with Chinese culture and art sectors and constantly deepen understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
The cultural center will be decorated and is expected to open to the public in April 2015.
