The Forbidden City was the palace of 24 emperors during the Ming (1368-1644)and Qing Dynasties(1644-1911). Built in 1406, the Palace Museum is a national first-class museumand the largest existing palace building in the world. Together with the Emitash Museum in Russia, the Louvre in France, the Metropolitan Museum in the United States and the British Museum, it is one of the world's five largest museums.
