The Chinese embassy to Pakistan and China Cultural Center in Pakistan sent 1,600 food packages to the Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IWCCI) on Aug 11.
In attendance at the donation ceremony were Zhang Heqing, cultural counselor from the embassy and director of the cultural center, Samina Fazil, IWCCI founder president, and Farida Rashid, IWCCI elected president, along with other Chinese and Pakistani officials and representatives.
"The COVID-19 pandemic severely affected Pakistani people's lives, especially those poverty-stricken families and women in vulnerable situations. As a friend of Pakistan, China hopes to lend a hand to the locals and help them overcome these difficulties during the epidemic," said Zhang.
Fazil and Rashid expressed their gratitude to the Chinese government and people. They planned to distribute the food packages to those in need as soon as possible. The two presidents expected the exchanges and communication at all levels between IWCCI and China's women's chambers of commerce and industry as well as Chinese women entrepreneurs could be further enhanced.
