China was invited to attend an eight-day cultural activity in Cairo on Sept 9. The activities hosted by the Library of Alexandria included an opening ceremony, exhibition and training class.
Over 200 people attended the ceremony, including Chen Dongyun, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the director of the Library of Alexandria, staff in the cultural sector of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, martial arts coaches and students from the China Cultural Center in Cairo, Cairo’s model team, artists and craftsmen and Egyptians.
At the exhibition, Chen Dongyun introduced the Chinese exhibition stands to her Egyptian counterparts, in which China’s promotional video, painting, books and arts and crafts attracted many visitors.
Then, Chen delivered a speech for the art show. She stressed the importance of traditional culture and praised Egyptian non-governmental institutions for protecting their traditional culture.
The performance of Chinese ethnic clothes modeling team trained by China Cultural Center in Cairo opened the art show and a traditional Chinese martial arts performance received a warm welcome from the audience.
This eight-day-event attempted to show the diversity of Chinese culture by opening different training classes, including the martial arts, paper cutting, calligraphy and a tea art show.
Such familiar activities, including cultural salon, arts show, music concert, calligraphy class, and hieroglyphics class are frequently held by the Library of Alexandria, which aims to share world cultural heritage.
